Navajo
Moki Serape

48” x 80”
ca. 1865-1870

A stunning Saltillo inspired diamond, woven with cochineal dyed raveled bayeta, floats over an austere dark field of finely articulated bands. The scarlet red yarns masterfully hand plied by the weaver to compliment the hand spun light and dark natural and indigo yarns.

The size and proportions of the diamond approximate those found in classic Saltillo sarapes. A red cross and double barred white cross finials distinguish its’ center. Pristine original condition.
